Getting better broadband for Bolsterstone and More Hall
Across the constituency of Penistone and Stocksbridge I've been working to take advantage of every government scheme to get schools, residents and businesses more reliable and faster broadband connections. And it's been going well. Incredibly, through government investment the UK is rolling out gigabit networks faster than any other country in the EU.
Locally we now have 96.91% Superfast coverage and 63.21% Gigabit. That's a huge improvement in just a few years and more schemes have just launched.
Most recently I've been working with Cllr. Julie Grocutt, BT Openreach, BDUK and Superfast South Yorkshire to to those experiencing poor service in Bolsterstone. But it's now up to residents to sign up for their voucher - eligible residents can sign up here.
All properties that are eligible should now have been contacted, and I know from speaking to people on the doorstep that lots of local residents have already signed up for their voucher.
I’m also continuing to work with Superfast South Yorkshire on a similar scheme in Langsett, and am contacting providers to press them for improved broadband in communities including Howbrook and Chapeltown.
